Supervision & Reflective Practice

Picture
I offer supervision sessions to counsellors and psychotherapists as well as anyone working with the Health or Social Care sectors. I know that there are many dedicated, skilled professionals who constantly feel like they’re on the edge of burnout and wonder if they want to – or if they can – stay in their professions. The goal of supervision is to help discern how they feel in themselves, how that is connected to (or disconnected to) what transpires at work, and what can be done to make positive changes. It is vital that working life is sustainable; this often involves asking some hard questions and thinking creatively about how it’s possible to develop more resources, both internally and externally.

The sessions will be supportive, safe and exploratory. Underlying my work is a strong commitment to trauma-informed care and being an anti-oppressive practitioner, and these are principles that I encourage supervisees to reflect on as well. My view is that the more compassion professionals offer themselves, the more compassionate care they can offer to the clients and patients they work with. In the context of systems that are often rigid and inflexible, it’s all the more important that professionals take time to think about themselves as individuals, what they can manage and what, if any, changes need to be made.

Supervision can take place fortnightly or monthly with lengths of 45, 60 or 90 minutes depending on need and availability.
